Community Standards (Providers)

Updated over 2 months ago

Materia+ is dedicated to empowering providers who choose natural healthcare. We understand that providing an outstanding patient experience depends on fostering a strong and trusting partnership with the providers on Materia+.

The guidelines below serve as a provider code of conduct that outline our expectations for participating providers’ behavior. Consistent with our terms of use, violation of this code of conduct may be grounds for suspension or termination from Materia+.

Respect & Safety

  • Always show respect to others and adhere to all relevant laws.
  • Do not engage in bullying, harassment, the use of profanity, threats, intimidation, or any form of harm against Materia+ users or representatives.
  • Avoid any form of discrimination, as well as using inappropriate, disparaging, derogatory, or racist/bigoted language towards Materia+ users or representatives.
  • Do not take any unlawful or unethical actions against patients based on their experiences (reviews) —whether critical, negative, or otherwise—or for any other reason.

Professional Obligations

  • Comply with all standards outlined in the Provider Service Standards.
  • Adhere to all relevant professional rules and ethical guidelines, including those associated with your regulatory body.
  • Protect patient data and follow PHIPA, HIPAA, PIPEDA, and other applicable regulations regarding the use, maintenance, storage, or disclosure of individual health information.
  • Always maintain a valid, up-to-date, and unrestricted license or standing with any regulatory bodies you belong to, whether public or private.
  • Your primary focus should always be the best interests of the patient; ensure that your financial interests do not influence the treatments you recommend or provide.
  • Never condone or allow any unlawful behavior.

Accuracy

  • Immediately notify Materia+ should there be any changes in the status of your license or your ability to practice.
  • When a Materia+ user books with a specific provider, ensure that the user sees the provider they selected.
  • Materia+ users expect providers to honor their selected appointment times, venues and locations as confirmed at the time of booking. As such, make every effort to maintain accurate and up-to-date appointment availability and physical location information.
  • Make every effort to honor and uphold Materia+ users’ scheduled appointment times, and prevent canceling or rescheduling.

Fraud

  • Do not impose any fees that are exclusive to Materia+ users or allocate any portion of your Materia+ subscription fees to them (for example, avoid implementing a Materia+ booking fee or charging cancellation or no-show fees solely for Materia+ users).
  • Do not discourage or obstruct Materia+ users from using the platform as intended, either directly or indirectly. Refrain from guiding, instructing, or urging Materia+ users to redirect their bookings away from the platform (for instance, do not include your contact information or website in your professional statement or Broadcasts in a way that encourages offsite bookings).
  • Ensure prompt payment for all services provided (for example, do not dishonestly dispute or refuse payment for new patient bookings made through Materia+’s marketplace).
  • Do not instruct or guide Materia+ users to engage in any conduct that would breach Materia+’s Terms of Use and Acceptable Use Policy, including submitting false information.
  • Do not impersonate a patient by creating patient accounts to share fraudulent reviews.
  • Never request or accept reviews from someone with a conflict of interest. This includes, for example, current or former employees, competitors or peers, friends and family members, or anyone being paid or otherwise incentivized to leave a review.
  • Do not share any inaccurate, misleading, or defamatory information regarding Materia+ services, policies, or procedures with our users or anyone else; do not claim to be a representative of Materia+.
  • Do not use Materia+’s trademark, logo, or intellectual property without obtaining prior approval.
  • Never directly or indirectly attempt to prevent reviews (critical, negative, or otherwise), or to submit fraudulent reviews, for any purpose
